Day 4 – Breaking Patterns, Embracing Love, and Being Present

Author’s Note: This blog is written from the notes I took on Day 4 of my Full-On Love Challenge in 2020. Each day brought me new insights, gifts, and lessons, and I wanted to share them. A lot of these notes didn’t make it into my book, Living in Love, but are equally as important to share.

Much love.

Mindful Shifts & Shaking it Up

Day 4 was a whirlwind of insights, fresh perspectives, and small, mindful shifts that feel like love in action. Day 4 of the Full-On Love Challenge has brought some beautiful lessons and practices that I can already sense will leave a lasting impact.

A dear friend of mine, a mindfulness coach, offered me some gentle truths today, and they landed exactly where they were needed. His words reminded me that I’m far more mindful than I often give myself credit for.

Isn’t it funny how we can be so quick to see our shortcomings but so slow to celebrate our strengths?

Work-Mode is Okay

He pointed out something so freeing: It’s perfectly fine to be in work-mode while I’m at work (I was beating myself up for not being more peaceful and serene at my day job). That simple truth felt like a permission slip. My focused, task-oriented energy at work is not a fault; it’s exactly the mode I should be in. I forget that though when I find such peace and ease during other times. I wanted my day job to be the same! But, the truth is, work isn’t all unicorns and rainbows and I don’t have to feel guilty for not radiating loving energy doing my job.

At the same time, he encouraged me to approach work (and life) from a loving place, starting fresh every day. That means leaving pre-judgements and past frustrations at the door. It’s not always easy to let go of the mental baggage we carry into meetings or situations, but he suggested a couple ways to help:

Let Go of Preconceived Ideas

  • Breathe deeply and refocus – Even a single mindful breath can reset our thoughts and anchor us in the present.
  • Stay in the now – Look at each person or scenario with fresh eyes, without dragging past experiences or stories into today. Leave what happened in the last meeting there – don’t let it impact now.

Shaking Things Up (Literally)

Inspired by a yoga video I did, I dove into different techniques to break up habitual behaviours. It’s fascinating how even the tiniest tweaks to our routine can help rewire our brains and disrupt energy blockages!

Feeling dull and bored on a rainy day, I wanted to do something to “shake” my mood – so guess what? I treated myself to a minute of shaking—just letting my body move freely and with abandon.

 Love for the Inanimate

A new rule emerged today for the challenge: Love isn’t just for people, animals, or even ourselves—it’s for everything. I started extending my love to the inanimate objects that make my life easier, cosier, and more joyful.

Today, I thanked my laptop for its reliability, my boiler for finally working after two chilly days, and my pots and pans for helping me nourish myself. Expressing gratitude and love for these often-overlooked helpers felt surprisingly transformative.

By including objects in my love list, I noticed how it shifted my vibration. The act of expressing genuine love—no matter to what or whom—raises our frequency. It’s a simple truth: love is love, and it has the power to bring bliss to our days.

An Upward Spiral

I’m discovering that the more I engage with these acts of love, the more I want to expand them. The challenge is no longer something I have to do; it’s something I’m excited to deepen. Each moment of love—whether through gratitude, shaking, or a mindful breath—creates a ripple effect, drawing me closer to that sweet state of ease and bliss.

Here’s to shaking up routines, breaking patterns, and loving life in every way we can.
